CNN Anchors Pretend They’re Having A Satellite Interview In The Same Parking Lot Funny

via Happy Place

"Sorry, we're experiencing a delay in the broadcast while we both wait for this bus to go by."

“Sorry, we’re experiencing a delay in the broadcast while we both wait for THE SAME BUS to go by.”

Yes, those are all the same cars. Apparently they thought we wouldn’t notice because Nancy is on the right side of the screen, when in reality she is to Asleigh Banfield’s left. See The Atlantic Wire‘s excellent breakdown of the shots to see exactly what happened. Tricky, CNN, very tricky. We understand, though. When a major crime story like the Cleveland Kidnapping breaks, you have to send in Nancy Grace. However, since Nancy Grace is a poorly-medicated vengeance demon who’s always just a bad morning away from ending up on her own show, you also send in a real anchor with whom she can “correspond.” Unfortunately, it’s hard to get shooting permits in Cleveland on short notice, so you set up in the same parking lot. Do us a favor, CNN, just put them next to each other and have them talk into each other’s faces instead of relaying their words through satellites to come back down 30 feet away like we’re idiots.

Are all telephone calls recorded and accessible to the US government?

The real capabilities and behavior of the US surveillance state are almost entirely unknown to the American public because, like most things of significance done by the US government, it operates behind an impenetrable wall of secrecy. But a seemingly spontaneous admission this week by a former FBI counterterrorism agent provides a rather startling acknowledgment of just how vast and invasive these surveillance activities are.

Over the past couple days, cable news tabloid shows such as CNN’s Out Front with Erin Burnett have been excitingly focused on the possible involvement in the Boston Marathon attack of Katherine Russell, the 24-year-old American widow of the deceased suspect, Tamerlan Tsarnaev. As part of their relentless stream of leaks uncritically disseminated by our Adversarial Press Corps, anonymous government officials are claiming that they are now focused on telephone calls between Russell and Tsarnaev that took place both before and after the attack to determine if she had prior knowledge of the plot or participated in any way.

On Wednesday night, Burnett interviewed Tim Clemente, a former FBI counterterrorism agent, about whether the FBI would be able to discover the contents of past telephone conversations between the two. He quite clearly insisted that they could:

BURNETT: Tim, is there any way, obviously, there is a voice mail they can try to get the phone companies to give that up at this point. It’s not a voice mail. It’s just a conversation. There’s no way they actually can find out what happened, right, unless she tells them?

CLEMENTE: “No, there is a way. We certainly have ways in national security investigations to find out exactly what was said in that conversation. It’s not necessarily something that the FBI is going to want to present in court, but it may help lead the investigation and/or lead to questioning of her. We certainly can find that out.

BURNETT: “So they can actually get that? People are saying, look, that is incredible.

CLEMENTE: “No, welcome to America. All of that stuff is being captured as we speak whether we know it or like it or not.”

Look what’s posted on Piers Morgan’s lawn

Look what’s posted on Piers Morgan‘s lawn

Piers Morgan, the resident gun control advocate on CNN, protects his own personal property with signs warning that it is guarded by “Armed Response Security Systems,” according to a new investigation by self-described “guerrilla journalist” James O’Keefe.

O’Keefe, founder of  Project Veritas, is known for his undercover video and sting operations.

He recently exposed how journalists with the newspaper that revealed the addresses of gun-permit holders in the New York City area were unwilling to take a dose of their own medicine and declare their homes “gun-free zones.”

Now O’Keefe has produced a video to expose the double standards of Hollywood celebrities and filmmakers who support President Obama’s gun control agenda.

Among those confronted with a request to sign onto an effort to remove all guns from movies was Morgan, who made a brief foray into the top-tier rankings at CNN by badgering guests over their support of gun rights.

O’Keefe’s undercover agents approached one of Morgan’s Hollywood properties and discovered a sign that said “Protected by Armed Response Security Systems.”

Guns and Piers Morgan

By Larry Elder via townhall.com

Guns and Piers Morgan

CNN’s Piers Morgan writes that the pro-gun crowd’s anger toward him stems from anti-British bias: “This gun debate is an ongoing war of verbal attrition in America — and I’m just the latest target, the advantage to the gun lobbyists being that I’m British, a breed of human being who burned down the White House in 1814 and had to be forcefully deported en masse, as no American will ever be allowed to forget.”

Scads of “in-sourced” Brits appear on our telly without us Yanks calling for their deportation. Hell, we just let a Brit play Abe Lincoln. Fox’s Stuart Varney seems to escape this anti-mother country xenophobia.

Maybe, just maybe, it’s the way Morgan — as well as much of the guns-kill-people-crowd — holds “debates” on the matter.

Take the treatment of Larry Pratt. Respected in circles that Piers “I-have- fired-guns-only-once-in-my-life” Morgan chooses not to hang out with, Pratt heads a pro-Second Amendment group called the Gun Owners of America. Pratt, on Morgan’s show, attempted to explain that the “gun control” big picture requires understanding something: Hundreds of thousand of Americans, every year, use firearms for self-defense.

Morgan’s response? He called Pratt “an incredibly stupid man” and denounced “idiots like you.” Then came this: “You don’t give a damn,” Morgan said, “do you, about the gun murder rate in America? You don’t actually care.”

Morgan offered no study, expert, number — nothing whatsoever — to counter the claim. That anyone with a moderately functioning brain could find an upside in owning, let alone using, a gun simply astonishes Morgan. Defies common sense!

Is it true, as claimed by Florida criminalist Gary Kleck, that 2.5 million Americans each year use a firearm for self-defense? Is it true that, of that number, 400,000 people believe that, were it not for the gun they used, they would have been killed? These are questions and answers the anti-gun crowd ignores, chooses not to think about or considers irrelevant.

“How many Americans are alive,” I once asked a pro-gun control police chief, “because they used a firearm in self defense?”

Obama’s Re-election Causes Spike in Gun Sales

via Guns.com

Gun sales are soaring in the wake of President Barack Obama’s reelection. Evidence for the beginning of what could be a second Obama gun boom are both anecdotally and empirically visible.

To start with the anecdotal evidence, there’s no shortage of dealers and gun shop owners reporting a spike in sales.

“We’re going from normally six to eight guns a day to 25,” Mel Bernstein, owner of Dragonman Arms in Colorado Springs, Colorado, told KOAA-TV.  “I stocked up, I got a stockpile of these AK-47s, we’re selling these like hot cakes. Luckily I had an idea of what was going on because it happened with Clinton.”

Bernstein is referring to the rise in gun sales before the passage of the Clinton-era Assault Weapons Ban, which placed restrictions on firearms with the following features: folding or telescoping stocks, magazine capacity, pistol grips, bayonet mounts, flash suppressors, among others. The ban, as most of us recall, expired in 2004.

“Sales are up,” John Kielbasa, owner of Fernwood Firearms in Hankins, New York, told CNN.  “I had a guy waiting here first thing in the morning [after the election]. He came in, bought two AK-47s. It’s going to be good for me for business.”

Final CNN Poll: Deadlocked at 49, Despite D+11 Sample

via townhall.com

Say, has anyone mentioned this race looks pretty close lately?  Oh, that’s right — everyone has.   CNN’s last national poll before Judgment Day shows the race tied at 49, with a D+11 partisan sample.  This assumes Democrats will improve upon their extraordinary 2008 turnout by four percentage points.  There’s a word for this.  It’s “ludicrous.”  CNN’s previous national poll gave Obama a three-point lead, so it suggests the GOP nominee is gaining steam.  In light of the mind-blowing sample, how is the race even close, let alone tied?

(1) Independent voters are siding with Romney by 22 points, 59/37.

(2) Romney leads by nine on the economy — which is the top issue for voters, followed closely by the deficit, another Romney strong suit.

(3) Romney matches Obama on favorability and leadership qualities.

So there’s that.  In case you’re curious, the poll was conducted Friday through Sunday, so any potential Sandy “bump” for Obama should be reflected in the numbers.  Perhaps even more astonishing is the GOP’s one-point lead on the poll’s generic Congressional ballot (which may help explain stories like this).  Have I mentioned this survey has a D+11 sample?
