Gun Shop Allegedly Banned From Partcipating in Popular Store’s Contest: ‘Entry Contains Content That Promotes…Firearms’
“We are never spending a dime in that store again and would encourage you to do the same.”
Maple Creek Gunsmithing, a firearms store in Fremont, Nebraska, is claiming that Staples, the popular office supply chain, rejected a recent contest application from the shop — because Maple Creek sells guns.
The store, which is owned by Travis Vonseggern and Bill Jackson, recently applied for Staples’ PUSH It Forward Contest, an opportunity for small businesses to win cash to help pay for online marketing efforts. But Vonseggern and Jackson were purportedly sent a message explaining that they are ineligible.
The alleged rejection e-mail that was sent by Staples and subsequently published on the Maple Creek Gunsmithing Facebook page reads:
We’re sorry, but your small business entry into the Staples PUSH It Forward Contest has been rejected* for the following reason(s):
Entry contains content that promotes alcohol, illegal drugs, tobacco, firearms/weapons (or the use of any of the foregoing); promotes any activities that may appear unsafe or dangerous; promotes any particular political agenda or message; is obscene or offensive; or endorses any form of hate or hate group.
Please visit the Staples PUSH It Forward Contest if you wish to submit a new entry for your small business.
In a separate message, the gun shop owners described the disqualification and noted their dissatisfaction with Staples’ decision. In addition to decrying the rejection, Maple Creek Gunsmithing pledged to not do business with the chain again — and encouraged others to join in on the boycott.
The owners even put out a call to the community, asking for fans to suggest local office supply stores that they can do business with in the future.
“They went as far to say that they lump us in with illegal drug use. Wow we spent a ton of money with them and this is the support we get,” the post reads. “We are never spending a dime in that store again and would encourage you to do the same.”
Women Skipping Yoga Studio for Gun Range
*******Women Skipping Yoga Studio for Gun Range *******
The gun market for women is exploding, with increasing numbers purchasing guns, getting concealed carry permits, and attending in-depth self-defense handgun courses around the country.
Women of all walks of life–”moms, consultants, bankers, co-eds”–have found that having a gun close at hand is the surest way to be able to protect one’s self and one’s family.
Moms and daughters are taking gun classes together, as are female coworkers and room mates. To do so, they are passing on stereotypical outings–”shopping” or “yoga”–for time at the gun range.
Tracy Maalouf, a female physician’s assistant taking a handgun self-defense course, described the process of familiarizing herself with guns as “overcoming something.” She said the thing that women overcome is “fear.”
Maalouf said women are not typically associated with guns but that women need to “get to that point where [they're] not afraid of the gun.”

Government: Now Paying Shrinks $3,000 For Every Veterans Gun They Confiscate
An anonymous New York psychiatrist (Dr. X) who works for the VA has come forward to state that “things have been getting a little bit uneasy . . . for veterans.” That’s an understatement. We already know that New York State is going after veterans who have sought any kind of treatment for mental health. Dr. X reveals that, when veterans come to the VA for help, they’re often treated by ultra-liberal interns and residents who think of them as baby-killers; the VA actively seizes guns from any veterans treated for mental health issues, not matter how minor or stable the problem; veterans who refuse to give up their weapons are institutionalized; and psychiatrists get a $3,000 incentive whenever a veteran loses his guns.
Almost all VA hospitals, says Dr. X are associated with teaching hospitals or medical schools. The VA recruits residents from those doctor pools, so that the residents got experience and the VA gets low-cost doctors. Too often the result is that extremely politically liberal interns and residents end up on the front line for treating veterans – and these young people view veterans with disgust and disdain as “baby=killers.” (One suspects that these same young people give are giving baby-murderer Kermit Gosnell a pass.)
In addition to mean-spirited residents, the system’s professional psychiatrists get $3,000 bonuses if they can grab veterans’ guns. According to Dr. X, when a veteran first comes into the system, he’ll collect as much information about him (including information about gun ownership). In past years, if the veteran is basically well, just anxious or depressed, he gets treatment and some meds, and then comes back every three months for follow-up and prescription renewals.
What’s been happening recently, though, is that the VA is pushing psychiatrists to seize guns. When doctors see a patient – even one who has been totally stable for years — the doctor says “I see on this progress note that you own fire arms.” If the patient says “yes,” Dr. X is required to ask the veteran to surrender his firearms. Veterans invariably refuse. When they do, the psychiatrist then summons the VA police to the room, saying “You’re going to surrender your firearms, or we’re going to involuntarily hospitalize you.” (Read this story, which corroborates what Dr. X is saying.)
Please listen to this audio and confirm Dr. X’s hope that, in light of the outrage greeting the story of veterans who received gun confiscation letters from the VA, the time is ripe for this story to go viral – and for us to support our veterans. The current administration’s attacks on veterans are shameful and shameless. These attacks give the green light to local communities that refuse to let veterans fly American flags or to fly flags honoring other vets, and they make our legislators think that vets can be hustled off to prison for “getting out of line.” Our veterans gave to us; it’s time for us to give back to them. Contact your Congress person about this one.

Sheriff urges citizens to take firearms class
via Fox News
A sheriff who released a radio ad urging Milwaukee-area residents to learn to handle firearms so they can defend themselves while waiting for police said Friday that law enforcement cutbacks have changed the way police can respond to crime.
In the 30-second commercial, Milwaukee County Sheriff David Clarke Jr. says personal safety is no longer a spectator sport.
“I need you in the game,” he says.
“With officers laid off and furloughed, simply calling 911 and waiting is no longer your best option,” he adds. “You can beg for mercy from a violent criminal, hide under the bed, or you can fight back. … Consider taking a certified safety course in handling a firearm so you can defend yourself until we get there.”
The ad has generated sharp criticism from other area officials and anti-violence advocates. The president of the Milwaukee Deputy Sheriffs’ Association, Roy Felber, said it sounds like a call to vigilantism.
